Whether attending for a new injury or a long-term issue, exercise prescription and progression is bound to be part of your treatment and management during your physiotherapy session. Some of the ways in which exercise may be incorporated into your management include;
- Daily stretches or exercises, specific to your injury, to assist in settling symptoms.
- Daily stretches or exercises to prevent injury or pain.
- Rehabilitation exercises to progress recovery and assist return to work or sport.
- Exercise prescription to manage long term conditions such as chronic pain or osteoarthritis.
- Pre- and post-operative rehabilitation.
- Group exercise – such as clinical exercise (Pilates based), ladies osteoporosis and men’s strength classes.
There is increasing evidence behind using exercise in a greater capacity than hands on treatment with a great variety of conditions, including chronic conditions, mental health, and conservative management of sports related injuries. This is something you can discuss with physiotherapist, and together determine the right plan for you.
